As far back as I remember I have been embarrassed by my excessive body hair. When I reached puberty I was even more self conscience as the hair growth increased on my face and my body. I tried many types of temporary methods to no satisfaction.
One day I met an electrologist, and after discussing electrolysis with her I decided to give electrolysis a try. I quickly realized that it was the only solution for me. Not only did I rid myself of unwanted hair, but I soon realized an increase in my self confidence as the treatments progressed. It was an easy decision to continue with electrolysis, and have one area of my body cleared after another. I was so pleased by the results that I now look forward to the opportunity of helping others with similar concerns.
I graduated from The Kree Institute of Electrolysis in New York City in 1976. When returning to Ottawa I was employed as an electrologist for a short time, but couldn’t continue to work under the poor conditions and antiquated equipment I was expected to work with.
I decided to open my own electrolysis clinic where I had the liberty to operate in a professional manner, and offering state of the art technology. I opened Kathryn’s Electrolysis Ltd. and over several years expanded to the largest electrolysis studio in Ottawa. In 2001 I sold Kathryn’s and moved to Kingston, ON where I established Caress Electrolysis. When I returned to my hometown of Ottawa in 2006, I settled in Barrhaven and reopened Caress. I am pleased to say that only a couple of years later, Caress is the leading electrolysis clinic in Ottawa.
I continually update my education to stay fresh and current with new technology. Caress is one of the few clinics in Ottawa that offers the use of Zeiss microscopes to increase the precision of our insertions, providing more gentle treatments and faster results. In 1988 I began offering facial spider vein treatments to my services after I attended instruction in procedures to treat dilated blood vessels. I graduated as a laser technician from LCI and continued my laser training at Laser Medcare. Although I worked for a few years part time as a laser technician as well as continuing to operate my electrolysis business, I no longer provide laser hair removal services through Caress given the superior results of electrolysis. I now focus all my energies on electrolysis, which is still the only permanent method of hair removal.
I am so delighted to have found such a rewarding career; one in which I am so passionate. Everyday I look forward to assisting others restore their beauty and helping to increase their self-confidence. I welcome the opportunity to do the same for you!
I graduated from The Ottawa School of Electrolysis in 1986. After graduation I joined Kathryn and her staff at Kathryn’s Electrolysis Ltd., which Kathryn Hay owned and operated at the time.
Later I branched out on my own and started Jane’s Electrolysis Salon in the west end of Ottawa and then later moved my business to the Kanata area.
Kathryn’s Electrolysis was sold when Kathryn moved to Kingston upon her return to Ottawa in 2006 she opened Caress Electrolysis. I was pleased to resume my professional relationship with Kathryn and became the second electrologist at Caress.
I feel honoured to be able to work as an electrologist and I believe that my clients concerns are my passion. I am a friendly, caring person who is dedicated to helping people eliminate their unwanted hair problems and enhance their beauty and self confidence. I am proud to be part of the professional team at Caress Electrolysis; which consists of a select group of electrologist committed to the betterment of each and every client.
I am also qualified in the treatment of facial spider veins, which is a nuisance to many fair skinned women and men.
I was born and raised in Ottawa to loving parents and the youngest of five girls. My family also had a farm around Manotick, where in my youth; I spent many weekends and summers riding horses. I am happily married to Raymond Smith, who trains and owns thoroughbred race horses.
I am a graduate of the Electrolysis Program at Gina's School of Advanced Esthetics and am so happy to have found my niche in electrolysis. Balancing life as a stay-at-home Mom of two small children and a part-time Electrologist is an exciting and enjoyable challenge! The flexibility of working evenings and Saturdays allows me time to enjoy my family.
I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to make a positive shift in my life and change careers. After 15 years as an executive assistant and 5 years as a stay-at-home Mom I was able to select a career that completely suits my personality. I have a passion for the beauty industry. Being pampered and pampering my clients just makes sense to me! In addition to being an Electrologist I have been in the beauty business for years. I love helping my clients solve their unwanted hair problem and feel more confident.

I met Kathryn of Caress Electrolysis at a time in my life when I was searching for new opportunities. Kathryn explained the procedure of electrolysis and informed me what rewarding career it has been for her. I graduated from the electrolysis program at Gina’s College Of Advanced Aesthetics. Sharing a common link with those who know the frustration of superfluous hair growth has made electrolysis a wonderful choice for my career. I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.
I live on a hobby farm in Spencerville and I have an overwhelming love for animals. In my spare time I enjoy swimming, making greeting cards and rehabilitating orphaned wildlife.
I have been happily married since 2000, and I have two wonderful boys that keep me in shape. Being a stay a home mom for 7 years has given me many rewards, but I wanted something just for me.
I met Kathryn years ago but didn’t know what her profession was? One day when I discovered what she did and she explained the process of electrolysis, I became fascinated and was even more interested when I found out that she owns and operates Caress Electrolysis Ltd. Was there really such a thing as permanent hair removal? All these years I’ve spent shaving, tweezing and waxing, what a waste of time and money. I wish I had I known that a permanent hair removal solution existed years ago.
Aesthetics has always been an interest for me and I love interacting with people. I’m a conscience and meticulous person. After discussing with Kathryn what makes a great electrologist; electrolysis sounded like the perfect career for me.
I graduated from Gina’s School of Advance Aesthetics, in Ottawa. Since working at Caress, I found myself enjoying electrolysis more than I ever thought I would. I get a great deal of satisfaction seeing the progression of my treatments and knowing my clients are so pleased with the results.
